Zircon and Aegirine crystals on feldspar crystals from Mount Malosa in the Zomba District, Malawi – 1 unique flat.
This collection unit features selected specimens with well-formed crystals of zircon and aegirine on feldspar-rich matrix. Many of the pieces show black to brown, often lustrous zircon crystals accompanied by needle-like to prismatic aegirine. The combination with white to gray feldspar creates striking contrasts that are typical of parageneses from Mt. Malosa. Several specimens display fluorescent zones under UV light – an additional feature that enhances the appeal of this collection.
Mount Malosa in the Zomba District is one of the classic localities for rare alkaline minerals. The aesthetic crystal formations and rich mineralogical diversity of this site make specimens from the area highly valued among collectors. This flat reflects that diversity through several contrasting and characteristic parageneses.
The flat shown in the pictures will be shipped with the corresponding box and, if applicable, folding boxes. These may be partially used, show signs of wear, and have multiple labels or markings.
