Mikon – Mineral tour

   Prospecting adventures in
   Malawi and Namibia

             29. July – 28. August 2024

Look forward to a unique journey with extraordinary discovery sites! Large mining operations await you!

You will be active directly on site, both above and below ground. Depending on the yield of finds, planning is done on site, competently supported by the tour guide with over 30 years of experience.

After arriving in Lilongwe, we will first set off for the pegmatites in Mzimba. Rose quartz, aquamarine, beryl, citrine and columbite await us. Continuing along Lake Malawi, we turn off southwards to the Tundulu Complex in Liwonde National Park. In addition to a short visit to see the hippos and elephants, we also enjoy the minerals of the alkali pegmatites with their glow under UV light. We then continue to the Zomba Plateau with its deposits of aegirine and smoky quartz. The tour continues to the Mulanje Massif, where we will come across sodalite. We then travel via Blantyre to Jombo (Blue Lace Agate) and Chimombo (Agate). We spend some time there to collect high-quality agates. On the way back to Lilongwe, we will visit the shipping company to organise the return transport of our finds. We will then fly back or onwards to Namibia.
