Zircon, smoky quartz, aegirine and siderite in a striking paragenesis on matrix from Mt. Malosa near Zomba, Malawi. The crystals are well-formed and easily distinguishable – from lustrous zircon and transparent smoky quartz to acicular aegirine and reddish-brown siderite. All pieces sit naturally on matrix and have been roughly cleaned to preserve their authentic appearance.
This flat originates from our own 2022 mineral collecting trip to Malawi. Mt. Malosa is renowned for its exceptional crystal formations and ranks among East Africa’s premier localities for rare pegmatitic minerals.
