Triceratops, the three-horn lizard, lived about 70 million years ago during the Cretaceous period. At 9 meters in length and weighing up to 10 tons, it was the largest dinosaur horn. As its name suggests, it had three horns. A shorter sitting on the nose and two one-meter long horns sat on the eyes. These horns and its large bony neck shield protected the harmless herbivore well before the attacks of predatory dinosaurs such as Tyrannosaurus. Triceratops and other dinosaurs were the last horn, in large flocks living dinosaur of the late Cretaceous of North America.
