This micromount from the Lengenbach Quarry features Trechmannite and Realgar in an association characteristic of this renowned sulfosalt locality. The vivid red and orange tones of the Realgar provide striking color accents, while Trechmannite contributes darker metallic contrasts. The specimen originates from L-24580, collected in 1993, and reflects the refined mineral diversity for which Lengenbach is internationally known.
Geology & Origin
The Lengenbach Quarry in the Binn Valley is one of the classic localities for complex sulfosalts. Within the dolomitic host rock, low-temperature hydrothermal conditions produced an exceptional range of rare mineral phases that continue to attract scientific interest. Trechmannite and Realgar are characteristic components of this unique environment and exemplify the mineralogical distinctiveness of the deposit.
