Trechmannite and Orpiment crystals from the Lengenbach Quarry, Binntal, Valais, Switzerland –  miniature specimen as unique piece

This miniature specimen from the Lengenbach Quarry combines Trechmannite with Auripigment on a light-colored matrix. The vivid orange to yellow areas of Auripigment create strong visual highlights and contrast clearly with the pale, fine-grained host rock. Trechmannite occurs locally in close association, adding both mineralogical and aesthetic interest. Despite its small size, the specimen appears well balanced and expressive, making it suitable for specialized Lengenbach collections as well as systematic collections of rare sulfosalts. The specimen originates from find L-26426 collected in 1995 and represents a well-documented single specimen.

Geology & Origin

The Lengenbach Quarry in the Binntal is internationally renowned for its exceptional diversity of sulfosalt minerals. Trechmannite and Auripigment form there under highly specific geochemical conditions within dolomite veins enriched in arsenic, sulfur, and other metals. These complex formation processes result in a wide range of rare mineral associations. Specimens from this classic locality are highly regarded by collectors and researchers worldwide.
