Suevite, red, meteorite impact rock; Nördlinger Ries, Germany; Min
Suevite, red, meteorite impact rock from Nördlinger Ries, Germany. One Miniature specimen.
This Min shows compact, reddish suevite from the Nördlinger Ries impact crater in Germany. The rock displays a heterogeneous structure with melt particles, breccia fragments and fine impact glass, typical of the high-pressure and high-temperature conditions produced by a meteorite strike. Natural fracture surfaces and textures reveal the characteristic mixture of crushed host rock and partially molten material. Such small specimens are excellent additions to geological collections or as illustrative material for educational purposes.
Geology & origin
Suevite forms during large meteorite impacts when target rock is shattered, partially melted and mixed with finely distributed impact glass. The Nördlinger Ries in southern Germany is one of the best-studied impact structures on Earth and provides a wide variety of suevite types. The material is an important example of terrestrial impact processes and is considered a classic rock type in impact geology.

Our raw stones are partially not cleaned. Possible impurities such as dust or dirt can be easily and quickly removed with water. This has no impact on the product quality.
The stones are occasionally moistened for the photos to enhance the visibility of their colors.
This table is for general information and orientation, although the sizes of the stones may vary. In addition, this specification is handled differently from region to region.
