Smoky Quartz, Feldspar and Zircon crystals from Mt. Malosa, Malawi – 1 unique flat.
This selection from our 2022 mineral collecting trip to Malawi features an appealing combination of smoky quartz, feldspar and well-formed zircon crystals. The smoky quartz is partly transparent with a deep brown hue, often associated with white to pinkish feldspar aggregates. Zircon occurs as reddish-brown, partly tabular crystals on light matrix, highlighting the aesthetic diversity of this paragenesis.
Mount Malosa is among the most significant localities for alkaline rock minerals in Africa. These specimens are self-collected and clearly reflect the characteristic mineral formation found in Malawian pegmatites.
