Sinnerite and Realgar crystals from the Lengenbach Quarry, Binntal, Valais, Switzerland –  miniature specimen as unique piece

This miniature specimen from the Lengenbach quarry features Sinnerite and Realgar in a striking association typical of this renowned sulfosalt locality. The vivid red-orange tones of the Realgar stand out clearly against the pale matrix, while Sinnerite contributes dark metallic highlights. The piece originates from L-4094, collected in 1965, and reflects the mineralogical diversity for which historic Lengenbach specimens are well known.

Geology & Origin

The Lengenbach Quarry in the Binn Valley is one of the world’s most important localities for rare sulfosalts. Within the dolomitic host rock, low-temperature hydrothermal processes formed an exceptional range of complex minerals that continue to attract scientific interest. Sinnerite and Realgar are characteristic components of this unique geochemical environment, long appreciated by both collectors and researchers.
