This 1 kg lot contains rough pieces of Shattuckite from Namibia. The material displays intense blue to turquoise areas irregularly embedded in a gray to brownish matrix, creating a vivid and highly contrasting appearance. Shattuckite occurs predominantly in massive to finely fibrous form, forming dense and compact aggregates. In some areas, radial fine structures can be observed, although no well-developed individual crystals are visible. The surfaces range from matte to slightly silky in luster, emphasizing the natural character of the material.
Geology & Origin Shattuckite is a rare secondary copper silicate that forms in the oxidation zones of copper deposits . It develops through alteration processes of pre-existing copper minerals and is commonly associated with minerals such as malachite, chrysocolla, or quartz . Deposits in Namibia, particularly in the Kunene region, are known for producing strongly colored and visually attractive material.
Application Well suited for collections, decorative pieces, and thematic copper mineral collections. Also interesting as raw material for cutting and smaller lapidary work.
