The specimens display predominantly deep black to dark grey prismatic Tourmaline crystals embedded to varying degrees in a light-coloured matrix. The different crystal sizes and growth habits provide an excellent overview of the characteristic appearance of this classic Schorl locality.
Geology & Origin
Schorl is the iron-rich black variety of the Tourmaline group and commonly forms in granitic pegmatites and hydrothermal veins. The Ameberg locality in Sweden is well known for producing well-developed Tourmaline crystals associated with Quartz and Feldspar. Material from this locality is appreciated by collectors for its characteristic prismatic crystal habits and its classic provenance.
