This unique flat contains numerous mineral specimens with Rosasite and Hemimorphite from the Ojuela Mine near Mapimí in Mexico. The specimens predominantly show greenish to turquoise Rosasite areas together with white to colourless Hemimorphite on reddish-brown to grey matrix. In addition to compact coatings and fine-grained mineralization, distinctly crystalline and drusy areas are also represented. The different sizes, colours and formations create a varied selection of this characteristic secondary mineralization. The complete flat shown in the pictures is offered as a unique lot.

Geology & Origin

The Ojuela Mine near Mapimí in the Mexican state of Durango is a classic locality for numerous secondary minerals from the oxidation zone of a complex ore deposit. Rosasite forms there as a copper- and zinc-bearing carbonate, while Hemimorphite is a zinc silicate that is likewise characteristic of oxidized zinc ores. Intensive alteration of primary ore minerals produced a wide variety of mineral associations in cavities, fractures and on matrix. The specimens in this flat show different forms of this characteristic Ojuela mineralization.
