This unique flat contains a varied selection of mineral specimens from the Ojuela Mine near Mapimí in Mexico. The assortment includes Rosasite and Adamite as well as other associated minerals from the locality. The specimens show conspicuous green to turquoise, yellowish, white, colourless and violet mineralization on predominantly brown to reddish matrix. In addition to compact mineral coatings and crust-like formations, the flat also contains distinctly crystalline and drusy areas, providing a varied impression of the characteristic mineralization from this classic locality. The complete flat shown in the pictures is offered as a unique lot.

Geology & Origin

The Ojuela Mine near Mapimí in the Mexican state of Durango is one of Mexico’s classic mineral localities and is particularly known for its diverse secondary minerals. Numerous colourful mineral species, including Rosasite and Adamite, formed in the oxidized parts of the deposit through alteration of primary ores. The complex geochemical evolution of the deposit produced a wide variety of mineral associations that occur in cavities, fractures and on matrix. The specimens in this flat document different forms of this characteristic oxidation-zone mineralization.
