Rare Earth Ore (e.g. Lanthanum, Cerium, etc., partly UV-active) from Bolivia – 100 kg
This 100 kg lot contains rough pieces of rare earth-bearing ore material from Bolivia. The specimens show predominantly light to beige-white base material with brown, gray, and slightly yellowish inclusions. The structure appears massive and compact with irregular fracture surfaces, while the mineral components are finely distributed throughout the rock. Some areas display a slightly granular to dense texture, typical for this type of ore. Under UV light, parts of the material show a visible reaction, indicating the presence of certain rare earth elements and adding further appeal for specialized collections. No well-developed crystals are visible on the pieces.
Geology & Origin
Rare earth elements include a group of metals such as Lanthanum, Cerium, and related elements, typically bound within complex minerals. These commonly occur in carbonatite or hydrothermal deposits and are associated with silicate and oxide minerals. The material offered here from Bolivia represents typical massive ore forms in which the rare earth elements are finely distributed within the host rock. Such deposits are of significant geological interest due to their importance as raw materials for modern technologies.
