Quartz crystals from the Oranje River in Namibia – 1 flat
A varied selection of Quartz crystals from the well known Oranje River region in Namibia, showing a wide range of colors from transparent to milky tones, as well as reddish, brownish, and violet hues. A characteristic feature is the combination of these colors within individual crystals, creating a lively and contrasting overall appearance. The crystals partly show well formed faces and often grow on natural matrix, adding structure and depth.
Geology & origin
Quartz is a silicate mineral with the composition SiO₂ and forms in a wide range of geological environments, especially in hydrothermal veins as well as in magmatic and metamorphic rocks. The different color variations are typically caused by trace elements such as iron or natural irradiation. The Oranje River region in Namibia is known for its diverse and richly colored Quartz occurrences.
