Quartz geodes (quartz druzy, quartz geode) closed from Morocco – 10 pieces
This item includes ten closed quartz geode from Morocco. From the outside the pieces appear rather inconspicuous and show a light to beige, sometimes slightly brownish rock surface. Inside, however, cavities with quartz crystals may be present, which only become visible after the geode is opened. Each geode is a naturally formed specimen whose internal structure and crystal development cannot be seen from the outside. For this reason these pieces are especially suitable for collectors, preparators, and as exciting educational material to open yourself.
Dimensions: approx. 13 × 10 cm
Geology & Origin
Quartz geodes form in cavities within volcanic or sedimentary rocks where mineral-rich solutions deposit minerals over long periods of time. Quartz crystals grow layer by layer from the walls of the cavity toward the center, forming drusy crystal surfaces that can often be bright and well developed. Morocco is one of the well-known regions worldwide for such geodes, which occur in various deposits and are highly appreciated by collectors and in mineralogical teaching collections.
