Quartz geode (Quartz druse); Morocco; 2.42 kg; unique piece
Quartz geode (Quartz druse) from Morocco – 2.42 kg unique piece
This 2.42 kg Quartz geode from Morocco displays an open cavity structure with a densely covered inner surface. The cavity is completely lined with clear to milky white Quartz crystals forming a fine and evenly developed crystal coating. The crystals reflect light vividly, giving the geode a bright and sparkling appearance.
The natural outer shape remains largely unaltered and forms an attractive contrast to the crystallized interior. With its compact size and balanced proportion between matrix and cavity, this Quartz geode is suitable both as a decorative object and as a classic collector’s specimen.
Geology & Origin
Quartz geodes form in gas filled cavities within volcanic rocks that are later lined by silica rich solutions. During slow crystal growth, inward pointing Quartz crystals develop and gradually fill the cavity. Morocco is well known for numerous localities producing such geodes, characterized by dense crystal coverage and harmonious shapes.
