Pyrite crystals from Java (Central Java), Indonesia –  cabinet specimen as unique piece

 

This cabinet specimen displays well-developed Pyrite crystals from Central Java, Indonesia, occurring as dense clusters of angular crystals perched on a dark, massive matrix. The Pyrite crystals are clearly formed, showing predominantly cubic to blocky shapes with a metallic luster and golden-yellow to brownish-gold coloration. The strong crystal development contrasts distinctly with the host rock, giving the specimen a pronounced three-dimensional appearance. With a weight of 4292 g.

Geology & Origin

Pyrite formation in Central Java is linked to hydrothermal processes associated with tectonic structures and volcanically influenced host rocks. Iron- and sulfur-rich fluids crystallized within cavities and fractures, forming well-developed Pyrite crystals. The region is known for its diverse sulfide mineralization, with Pyrite occurring in a wide range of crystal habits and sizes that are highly appreciated by collectors.
