Geology & Origin
Pyrite (FeS₂), often known as “fool’s gold”, is one of the most common sulfide minerals on Earth. The Extertal and Schaumburg region is known for various ore mineralizations in which Pyrite occurs as an associated or major mineral. Its characteristic cubic crystals form under hydrothermal conditions and are among the classic collector minerals of mineralogy. This lot provides an excellent representation of the typical habit of this important iron sulfide mineral.
The product image shows an example of how the minerals can be presented.
