This 1 kg lot comes from the Linka Mine in Nevada and contains fluorescent material with Powellite and Scheelite. Both minerals exhibit distinctly different UV reactions: Scheelite shows a strong blue-white fluorescence under shortwave UV light, while Powellite fluoresces bright yellow-orange under longwave UV. The host rock ranges from quartz-rich to carbonate compositions and displays various textures and color shades. These pieces are ideal for fluorescent mineral collections, teaching, or display purposes.
Geology & Origin
The Linka Mine is located in Lander County, Nevada, and is part of a polymetallic deposit system associated with skarn alteration and hydrothermal activity. Scheelite typically forms in calcic skarn zones, while Powellite occurs as a secondary molybdenum mineral in quartz-rich environments. Both minerals are rarely found together in such well-fluorescent quality, making this locality especially attractive for UV mineral enthusiasts.
