Calcite, UV-active from Mexico, 1 kg.
This 1-kg lot features UV-reactive Calcite from Mexico. The pieces consist mainly of clear to yellowish crystals with light violet zoning, a characteristic feature of Mexican calcite deposits. Many fragments show smooth cleavage surfaces, natural growth steps and partially stair-like crystal structures. Under UV light, the calcite fluoresces intensely, making this material appealing for mineral collectors and fluorescence-focused displays.
Geology & Origin
Mexico is one of the classic sources of colorful and strongly fluorescent calcite. Mineralisation occurs mainly in hydrothermal veins and carbonate-rich deposits, where calcite precipitates from circulating mineralized fluids. Trace elements such as manganese or rare earths are typically responsible for the UV reaction. This kilogram lot represents the characteristic qualities of these Mexican assemblages in a varied and visually appealing selection.
