Amblygonite crystal from Linopolis, Minas Gerais, Brazil – micromount as unique piece
Transparent to translucent crystal with a typical pale yellow hue and a well-defined prismatic habit. The lustrous crystal faces are clearly visible and show traces of the perfect cleavage characteristic of Amblygonite. The piece is securely mounted in a micromount box and is ideal for systematic collections.
Amblygonite is a lithium phosphate mineral with significant fluorine or hydroxyl content. Specimens from Linópolis are among the finest worldwide due to their clarity, color, and well-developed crystal form.
Geology & Origin:
Linópolis, located in the state of Minas Gerais, is one of Brazil’s most renowned regions for pegmatitic mineral formations. Amblygonite forms in lithium-rich pegmatites, commonly associated with Lepidolite, Elbaite, Spodumene, and Quartz. Due to its composition and typical crystal habit, Amblygonite is considered a classic reference mineral in pegmatite mineralogy.
