Afghanite crystals from Tobia, Vetralla, Viterbo, Italy – miniature specimen as unique piece
This specimen features clearly visible crystals of Afghanite in a light fine-grained matrix. The bluish translucent crystals are small but well distinguishable and stand out sharply against the white host rock. Afghanite is a rare member of the sodalite group and is highly valued by collectors for its intense blue coloration.
The specimen originates from Tobia, Vetralla, Viterbo in Italy, a well-known locality for rare silicate minerals. Afghanite crystallizes in the hexagonal system and contains aluminum, silicon, sulfur, calcium, and sodium. Finds outside Afghanistan are relatively uncommon, making this piece of particular interest for collections focused on rare silicates.
