This unique flat contains various mineral specimens with Natrolite and Phillipsite from the Vogelsberg in Hesse, Germany. The specimens predominantly consist of dark volcanic rock with white to cream-coloured mineral areas, occurring partly as extensive cavity linings and partly as crystalline aggregates. In addition to numerous smaller specimens, several larger pieces are included, representing different forms of the zeolite mineralization. The complete flat shown in the pictures is offered as a unique lot.
Geology & Origin
The Vogelsberg in Hesse is an extensive volcanic region composed predominantly of basaltic volcanic rocks. Mineral-rich fluids deposited various secondary minerals within cavities and fractures in these rocks. Natrolite and Phillipsite belong to the zeolite group and typically occur as cavity linings, aggregates or crystal formations in such environments. The specimens in this flat show different forms of this mineralization characteristic of basaltic rocks.
