Native Arsenic from Dul 21, Pribram, Czech Republic – cabinet specimen as unique piece
This specimen shows a massive section of native Arsenic with a metallic luster and fine lamellar texture. The silvery-grey surface is partly dull and partly slightly reflective, with a characteristically irregular banded structure. The contrast with the light surrounding rock matrix clearly highlights the arsenic zone.
Geology & Origin
Native Arsenic commonly forms in hydrothermal ore deposits under reducing conditions. The Příbram region in the Czech Republic is one of the classic Central European localities for a variety of ore minerals, including massive native arsenic from historic silver mines such as the Dul 21 shaft.
