Montroydite xls; St. Eulalia, Chihuahua, Mexico; Scab; unique piece
Montroydite crystals from St. Eulalia, Chihuahua, Mexico – small cabinet specimen as unique piece
This small cabinet specimen features Montroydite from the famous mineral district of St. Eulalia, Chihuahua, Mexico. The specimen consists of a light colored fine crystalline matrix on which characteristic crystalline coatings and aggregates of Montroydite have developed. The crystals form an irregularly textured surface with a subtle luster, giving the specimen an attractive appearance. The combination of the pale matrix and the beige to brown mineralized areas creates a natural and aesthetically pleasing display.
Geology & Origin
Montroydite is a rare mercury oxide mineral that forms in the oxidation zones of mercury bearing deposits. St. Eulalia is one of Mexico's classic mineral localities and is renowned for its exceptional diversity of rare mineral species. Complex weathering and oxidation processes have produced numerous secondary minerals there, including Montroydite. Specimens from this locality are highly valued among collectors of rare oxide and mercury minerals.
