Aegirine, Pyrochlore, Zircon crystals from Mt. Malosa, Malawi – 1 cabinet specimen as unique piece
Dense matrix covered with light feldspar crystals, serving as a contrasting background for numerous needle-like black Aegirine crystals. Some reach several millimeters in length and show partial translucency under light. Small Pyrochlore crystals and occasional Zircons are visible between the Aegirines, though mostly only identifiable under magnification.
Mt. Malosa, located in southern Malawi, is part of the Chilwa Alkaline Province, a geologically fascinating area known for its diversity of rare mineral species. Aegirine occurs here in association with zircon, arfvedsonite, pyrochlore, and other niobium-bearing minerals. This specimen comes from the Zomba region, a well-known source of aesthetically rich and finely crystallized mineral combinations.
