The pieces predominantly show grey to brownish-violet matrix with pale to whitish Maricopaite crystals and locally yellowish associated mineralization. Geology & Origin
The Moon Anchor Mine near Hummingbird Springs in Maricopa County, Arizona, is the type locality of Maricopaite. This rare hydrated lead-calcium silicate belongs to the zeolite group and was named after Maricopa County. At the locality, Maricopaite typically occurs as fine acicular to spray-like crystals and may be associated with minerals such as Mimetite.
