Lorandite and Orpiment crystals from the Shaft P 21, Allchar, Macedonia –  micromount as unique piece

This micromount with Lorandite and Auripigment crystals originates from Shaft P 21 of the classic Allchar deposit in Macedonia. The specimen displays a striking combination of reddish to dark-colored Lorandite crystals together with vividly yellow Auripigment crystals, creating a strong visual contrast on the matrix. The crystals are clearly recognizable and give the micromount an expressive color balance and a lively, finely textured overall appearance. The close association of these two arsenic minerals is highly characteristic of this world-renowned locality.

Geology & Origin

The Allchar deposit is one of the most important occurrences of thallium-bearing minerals worldwide. Mineral formation took place within a complex hydrothermal system, where arsenic- and sulfur-rich fluids enabled the crystallization of rare minerals such as Lorandite. Auripigment commonly formed alongside within the same structures. Shaft P 21 is particularly well known for documented micromount specimens showing classic paragenesis and high mineralogical significance.
