Lizardite from Norway – 9.3 kg unique piece
This massive rough specimen displays the typical yellow-green coloration of Lizardite, a variety of the serpentine group. The natural veining and matte to slightly glossy surfaces give it a distinctive character, making it suitable as a collector’s or decorative piece.
Lizardite forms through the alteration of ultramafic rocks and indicates hydrothermal activity in oceanic crust. Norway is one of the classic source countries for Lizardite, especially in regions with ophiolitic rock complexes, which are relatively common there.
To see the colors better the stones are wetted for some pictures.
