This unique flat contains a selection of Linnaeite specimens from Gladhammar, Sweden. The specimens display the characteristic steel-grey to blackish metallic lustre of Linnaeite and occur as massive to finely grained material within the host rock. The variety of sizes and textures provides an excellent overview of the appearance of this uncommon cobalt mineral.
Geology & Origin
Gladhammar is one of Sweden's classic cobalt mining districts and has been known for its ore deposits for centuries. Linnaeite formed there in hydrothermal veins and commonly occurs together with various cobalt, nickel and copper minerals. The locality is well regarded among collectors of Scandinavian ores and historically important mineral deposits.
