This small cabinet specimen displays a varied palette of pale green, yellowish, and whitish tones on a gray-beige matrix. The characteristic color zoning indicates the presence of both Lanarkite and Hydrocerussite, with the latter forming white to light gray coatings. The weathered texture of the host rock provides a striking contrast to the secondary minerals.
Geology & Origin:
The C+B Mine in Arizona is known for its diversity of secondary lead minerals, formed in the oxidation zone of old ore bodies. Lanarkite is a lead sulfate mineral, while Hydrocerussite is a typical carbonate alteration product of lead-bearing minerals. Both commonly occur together and offer insight into the geochemical conditions of mineral weathering.
