Hatchite / Wallisite and Jordanite crystals from the Lengenbach Quarry, Binntal, Valais, Switzerland –  micromount as unique piece

This micromount features crystals of Hatchite / Wallisite and Jordanite from the Lengenbach Quarry in the Binntal, Valais, Switzerland. The fine crystal aggregates are set in light-colored matrix and are characteristic of this exceptional locality. Despite the very small size, the different mineral phases are clearly distinguishable and document a complex sulfosalt paragenesis. The specimen originates from find L-21590, collected in 1989, and represents a classic single piece of both scientific and collector interest.

Geology & Origin

The Lengenbach Quarry in the Binntal is world-renowned for its extraordinary diversity of rare sulfosalt minerals. Hatchite, Wallisite, and Jordanite form within an arsenic-rich, metamorphosed dolomitic host rock. These complex geological conditions have led to the development of numerous rare mineral species, making Lengenbach one of the most important localities for systematic sulfosalt collections.
