Grape Agate from Indonesia  –  1.86 kg unique piece

This Grape Agate specimen from Indonesia displays the characteristic botryoidal growth with numerous spherical chalcedony formations. The surface is densely covered with small to medium-sized rounded forms, creating a highly sculptural, almost organic texture. The coloration ranges from soft violet and lavender tones to gray and subtle greenish areas, giving the piece notable visual depth. The crystals are not individually developed but instead form an irregular, matte, textured surface. Weighing 1.86 kg, this is an impressive large-scale single specimen, well suited as a display piece.

Geology & Origin

Grape Agate is not a distinct mineral species but a specific growth habit of chalcedony, a microcrystalline variety of Quartz. The distinctive spherical aggregates form through concentric growth within cavities of volcanic rocks. The most well-known and finest specimens originate from Indonesia, where these formations developed in basaltic host rocks. Subtle color variations are caused by trace elements and structural differences within the chalcedony.
