Grandviewite crystals from the Grandview Mine, Grand Canyon, AZ, USA– miniature specimen as unique piece
Grandviewit crystals from the Grandview Mine, Grand Canyon, Arizona, USA, offered as a miniature specimen and unique piece. Bright turquoise to blue-green Grandviewit areas form striking, contrasting zones on the dark to brownish matrix. The crystalline aggregates are clearly developed and distributed irregularly across the surface, creating a vivid and characteristic appearance of this rare copper mineral. The strong color intensity and texture give the specimen a high aesthetic appeal and make it a classic example of Grandviewit from this well-known locality.
Geology & Origin
The Grandview Mine in the Grand Canyon is a classic locality for secondary copper and uranium minerals formed by oxidative alteration of primary ores. Grandviewit develops under oxidizing near-surface conditions and commonly occurs in association with other copper minerals. The locality is historically significant and continues to yield well-defined, color-rich specimens that illustrate the complex geochemical processes within the deposit.
