Fossilized petrified wood; spiderweb structure; Sumatra, Indonesia; 2.1 kg; unique piece
Fossilized, petrified wood with spiderweb structure from Sumatra, Indonesia– 2.1 kg unique piece
This large piece of fossilized wood from Sumatra displays an exceptional spiderweb-like pattern formed by delicate, net-shaped silification zones. Warm beige, brown and ochre tones dominate the surface, accompanied by lighter silica veins that emphasize the characteristic network structure. The preserved wood texture appears like a frozen web of fibers, fully maintained and supported by Quartz.
Geology & Origin
Fossilized wood from Indonesia forms through complete silification of organic material in volcanically influenced environments. Mineral-rich solutions permeate the wood and, rather than replacing it outright, preserve its texture faithfully within a Quartz framework. The typical net structures from Sumatra are among the most striking preservation types and make such pieces highly desirable collector specimens.
