Fossilized (petrified) wood; sphere; polished; Sumatra, Indonesia; 6 pieces with ball stand
Polished fossilized (petrified) wood spheres from Sumatra in Indonesia – 6 pieces with ball stands
This set includes six carefully polished spheres made of fossilized wood from the island of Sumatra, Indonesia. The spheres feature an impressive variety of colors ranging from black to beige and cream, highlighting the organic origin of the wood. Each sphere comes with a matching stand.
Geology & Origin
The fossilized wood of Sumatra was formed through silicification of ancient forests buried millions of years ago under layers of volcanic ash and sediments. During this process, quartz and other silica minerals replaced the original organic matter, preserving the characteristic wood structure in remarkable detail. Indonesia, with its volcanically shaped geology, is among the world’s key sources of high-quality petrified wood.
