Fossilized (petrified) wood; Indonesia; 30 kg on pallet; unique piece
Fossilized (petrified) wood from Indonesia. 30 kg on pallet as unique piece.
This massive fossilized wood specimen from Indonesia, weighing approximately 30 kg, is characterized by its block-like shape and strong material presence. The surface preserves clear wood textures with pronounced fiber patterns, natural fractures, and layered color variations in yellow, ochre, brown, and reddish iron-oxide tones. Slightly glossy areas indicate a high degree of silicification, giving the piece a vivid and almost sculptural appearance. Due to its size and weight, this is an exceptional single specimen, well suited as a display piece, floor object, or central highlight in a collection.
Geology & Origin
Fossilized wood forms when dead wood is permeated and preserved by mineral-rich solutions over very long geological periods, while the original cellular structure remains intact. In Indonesia, this process often took place under tropical conditions within volcanically influenced sediments. Silica and iron compounds incorporated during fossilization are responsible for the characteristic colors and the high durability of the material. Large-scale specimens like this one are relatively rare and vividly illustrate the transformation from organic plant matter into solid rock.
