Fossilized wood with Quartz crystals from Java, Indonesia – 100 kg

This 100 kg lot contains pieces of fossilized wood from Java, Indonesia, preserved and penetrated by Quartz. The specimens show clearly recognizable wood structures with typical grain patterns in gray to dark brown tones. The natural structure of the original wood is well preserved and is further highlighted by light to slightly lustrous Quartz areas. The surfaces range from smooth to fibrous and follow the original growth pattern of the wood. Quartz occurs locally as small crystalline areas, adding an interesting combination of organic structure and mineral formation.

Geology & Origin
Fossilized wood forms when plant material is preserved over long periods under low-oxygen conditions and is penetrated by mineral-rich solutions. In this case, mineralization occurred through Quartz, allowing the original structure of the wood to remain visible. Such processes commonly occur in volcanic environments where silica-rich fluids are present. Deposits on Java are known for well-preserved fossil wood with distinct structures.

Application
Well suited for collections, decorative pieces, or further processing. Also ideal for cutting and polishing, where the wood structure and Quartz components become especially visible.
