This miniature specimen shows Ferro-Alluaudite from the Rio Namibe area in Angola, from the Gerd Tremmel collection. The piece displays a dense and compact appearance with a distinctive distribution of olive-green to brownish areas, intersected by coppery to golden zones. The irregular texture and contrasting color patterns give the specimen a strong visual presence and make it a characteristic representative of this rare phosphate group.

Geology & origin

Ferro-Alluaudite is an iron-rich member of the Alluaudite group, a complex family of phosphate minerals that typically forms in granitic pegmatites. These minerals develop during late stages of crystallization of phosphate-rich melts under variable chemical conditions. The Rio Namibe region in Angola is known for pegmatitic occurrences with rare phosphate mineralization and is a recognized source of material of both scientific and collector interest.
