This unique specimen features Fedotovite in a small capsule, displaying characteristic reddish-violet to brownish mineral areas with contrasting pale to greenish portions. The capsule provides protected storage while allowing the small mineral aggregate to be clearly observed. The specimen originates from Tolbachik Volcano, Kamchatka, Russia.

Geology & Origin

Fedotovite is a rare copper oxysulfate that forms under special conditions in volcanic fumaroles. Tolbachik Volcano on the Kamchatka Peninsula is renowned for its exceptional fumarolic mineralization and is an important locality for numerous rare mineral species, including minerals first described from this volcanic complex.
