Eudialyte & Meliphanite from Múzquiz, Mexico; 10 kg
Rare bulk material with reddish Eudialyte and yellowish-transparent Meliphanite from the well-known locality of Múzquiz, Coahuila, Mexico. This material comes from a find characterized by the unusual combination of zirconium- and beryllium-bearing minerals. Each kilogram contains several hand-selected pieces of varying size and mineralogical development.
Geology & Origin
The region of Múzquiz is best known for its spectacular fluorite deposits. In addition to these, rare mineral assemblages containing zirconium and beryllium, such as Eudialyte and Meliphanite, form in hydrothermally influenced veins and pegmatites of late-stage intrusive activity. The specific geochemical environment of these zones allows the formation of minerals that occur only at a few localities worldwide.
This rare combination has so far rarely appeared on the market from Múzquiz and therefore represents a mineralogically interesting addition for collectors of uncommon cyclosilicates.
