Edenharterite and Hatchite / Wallisite crystals from the Lengenbach Quarry, Binntal, Valais, Switzerland –  micromount as unique piece

This Edenharterite and Hatchit / Wallisite specimen from the Lengenbach Quarry in the Binntal shows a highly characteristic and visually striking association on a light-colored matrix. The intense red to orange areas of Edenharterit contrast clearly with the darker, metallic-looking zones of Hatchit and Wallisit. Although small, the crystals are well defined and typical of this locality. As a micromount, the specimen provides an excellent representation of rare thallium-bearing sulfosalts and is especially appealing for specialized Lengenbach collections. The piece originates from find L-23767 and was collected in 1992.

Geology & Origin

The Lengenbach Quarry in the Binntal, Valais, Switzerland, is internationally renowned for its exceptional diversity of rare sulfosalt minerals, particularly thallium-bearing species such as Edenharterit, Hatchit, and Wallisit. The mineralization is hosted by dolomitic rocks and formed under complex hydrothermal conditions. Many minerals from this locality are extremely rare or were first described from Lengenbach, making specimens from this site important reference material for collectors and researchers.
