Edenharterite and Dufrénoysite crystals from the Lengenbach Quarry, Binntal, Valais, Switzerland – miniature specimen as unique piece
This miniature specimen from the Lengenbach Quarry features a striking association of Edenharterite and Dufrénoysit set within a pale, finely textured matrix. Dark sulfosalt-rich zones stand out clearly against the surrounding material, while metallic inclusions add further visual interest. Colour markers highlight the significant mineral areas and reflect the precise documentation of the piece. The specimen originates from the Lengenbach Research Group and bears the label L-15-6554.
Geology & Origin
The Lengenbach Quarry in the Binn Valley is one of the world’s premier localities for rare sulfosalts, formed within a unique dolomite lens under exceptional geochemical conditions. Complex hydrothermal processes and a metal-rich environment allowed the development of numerous rare species, including Edenharterite and Dufrénoysit. This piece captures the distinctive mineralogical diversity and geological character of this renowned Swiss locality.
