Desert roses from the Sahara region in Tunisia – 1 flat.

This assortment contains a selection of larger desert roses formed in gypsum-rich desert soils. The specimens exhibit the characteristic rosette-shaped crystal aggregates with a bladed structure and silky luster typical of this variety. Their color ranges from light beige and sandy tones to warm brown shades, often with a fine layer of desert dust on the surface that emphasizes their natural character. Due to their size and structure, these pieces are especially well suited for display or for collections focused on desert minerals.

Desert roses form through the interplay of evaporating water, gypsum precipitation, and sand pressure in arid regions. Tunisia is one of the classic countries of origin for these formations. The flat offered here represents typical examples of these aesthetically striking mineral structures.

The region around Tozeur in southwestern Tunisia, located near the Chott el Djerid salt lake, is one of the classic localities for desert roses. In these arid landscapes, high levels of evaporation in gypsum- and salt-rich soils have produced these fascinating crystal formations over centuries. The flat offered here features typical examples of this striking mineral habit.
