Cuproadamite xls; Hilarion Mine, Laurion, Greece; Scab; unique piece
Cuproadamite crystals from the Hilarion Mine, Laurion, Greece– small cabinet specimen as unique piece
Intensely turquoise-green Cuproadamite crystals cover large portions of the brown oxidized matrix, creating a striking color contrast. The crystals are finely developed, partly sparkling, and exhibit a clear zoning that gives the specimen a particularly aesthetic appearance. In close view, the crystalline surfaces are well visible, embedded in a typical iron-rich host rock.
Geology & Origin
Cuproadamite is a copper-bearing arsenate mineral from the adamite group, typically forming in the oxidation zones of old polymetallic ore deposits. The Hilarion Mine in the Laurion district of Greece is well known for its rich secondary mineral assemblages and is considered a classic locality for this rare species.
