Cerussite, Barite and Galena crystals from Mibladen, Morocco – small cabinet specimen as unique piece, totally undamaged!
This small cabinet specimen from Mibladen presents Cerussite, Baryte and Galena in an impressive and highly aesthetic combination. Resting on the dark, metallic-looking matrix are several well-defined Cerussite formations in light grey to slightly olive tones, accompanied by fan-shaped Baryte in warm rose and cream colours. The strong contrast and the clear separation of the mineral phases give the piece an exceptional visual presence, making it a highly attractive example of classic Moroccan parageneses.
Geology & Origin
The Mibladen district is one of Morocco’s most important lead–zinc deposits and is renowned worldwide for its diverse and often vividly coloured mineral specimens. Cerussite typically forms in the oxidation zone of lead deposits, while Baryte and Galena represent primary minerals of the hydrothermal ore system. This specimen illustrates the characteristic paragenesis of the locality: early hydrothermal Baryte, primary Galena, and Cerussite as a typical oxidation product — a fine representation of the geological diversity and aesthetic appeal for which Mibladen is famous.
