"Blue Lace " Agate xls, druzy; on matrix, Mt. Malosa, Zomba, Malawi; 1 unique flat
Blue Lace Agate crystals on matrix from Mt. Malosa, Zomba, Malawi – 1 unique flat.
This flat contains multiple specimens of blue lace agate from the well-known Mt. Malosa area in Malawi. The pieces display the characteristic banding and soft blue to bluish-white tones typical of this chalcedony variety. Many show open vugs lined with fine quartz druses, giving them an attractive sparkle. All specimens are roughly cleaned and retain their natural character.
Mt. Malosa in the Zomba district of southern Malawi is famous for its mineral-rich pegmatites and volcanic-hosted secondary formations. Blue lace agate forms in silica-filled cavities and often appears in banded, translucent layers. The specimens in this flat were self-collected during our 2022 mineral collecting expedition to Malawi and represent a diverse range of the site’s natural agate formations.
