This unique flat contains numerous mineral specimens with Beaverite and various associated minerals from Beaver in Utah, USA. The specimens predominantly show yellowish, ochre, brown and whitish mineralization on differently developed matrix. The individual pieces vary in size, shape and texture and include compact mineral areas as well as fine-grained to crystalline formations. The complete flat shown in the pictures is offered as a unique lot.
Geology & Origin
Beaverite is a secondary sulfate mineral that typically forms in the oxidation zones of sulfide ore deposits. Weathering and alteration of primary ore minerals can produce complex secondary mineralization with yellowish to brown iron- and lead-bearing minerals. The mining district around Beaver in Utah is known for such oxidized ore mineralization and a variety of secondary minerals. The specimens in this flat document different forms of this mineralization.
