Geology & origin
Arsenpolybasite is a rare silver sulfosalt belonging to the polybasite group, distinguished by the substitution of antimony with arsenic. The Medenec locality in the Ore Mountains (Erzgebirge) is historically renowned for silver mining and continues to yield highly attractive microcrystalline specimens with complex parageneses. Arsenpolybasite typically forms in cavities and fissures of hydrothermal veins and is highly sought after by micromount collectors.
